God is not angry with you.
A familiar passage of scripture, silizwa lishiwo kakulu during Christmas season, but do we fully understand what it means? Most people think that this means ukufika kukaJesu emhlabeni would stop all the division, and strife, and usher in a new era of PEACE on earth!. Most of us believed that this announcement meant the Lord was coming to bring peace among MEN.
LUKE 2:8-14 – “That night some shepherds were in the field outside the village, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly an angel appeared among them, and the landscape shone bright with the glory of the Lord, they were badly frightened, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone. The Savior, yes the Messiah, the Lord has been born tonight in Bethlehem…” Glory to God in the highest heaven, an on earth peace, peace, good will toward men”
Kodwa akunjalo! Sasicabanga ukuthi ukufika kwakhe kuzoletha ukuthula emindenini (families) ukuthula emiphakathini (communities), yet this is NOT what this verse is saying. Jesus himself declared that :
“Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace on the earth! No, rather, a sword. I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, a man’s worst enemies will be right in his own home!”
Uma ke kunjalo yikuphi lokukuthula uJesu akhuluma ngakho kuleleivesi when He says :” Udumo kuNkululunkulu kweliphezulu…ukuthula kubantu abathokozelwa nguye?” The angels were announcing PEACE toward men from God! God was at war with us because of the fall, ngenxa yesono, sasisixabanisa noNkulunkulu, but since Jesus came and took our punishment God’s anger has been appeased.
Sometime as people we blame God for all the calamities in this world, we blame God for natural disasters, the killings, and every other bad thing that we can think of, but we forget that God is not the author of pain, disaster or calamity, God is not angry with us anymore. All His anger was put on Christ! God is not responsible for the death of young children, we blame God for the crimes He did not commit, scripture tells us that:
“The thief comes to steal, kill and destroys, and God reassures us that He has come so that we might have life and have in in abundance.”
We need to familiarize ourselves with the nature and character of God, so we have a full understanding of how our Father operates..
